School Nurses

Our school’s healthcare facility is licensed under Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and is staffed with two full-time QCHP licensed nurses.  It is located on the main floor just before our school store, ready to provide quality medical service to our students and staff. 

Our school nurses promote and maintain optimal student health by:

• Providing first aid and arranging for assessment and assistance to a child who becomes ill or injured at school or is demonstrating a significant change in behavior, whether due to a physical or social/emotional cause
• Communicating with parents and guardians when further medical care or attention may be needed and making referrals as appropriate
• Educating the school staff about health matters that affect students and/or staff
• Collaborating with other school professionals, parents/guardians and the student's health care team, as needed, to foster maximal student success

If your child needs medications to be administered at school, please contact the nurse to complete and sign the medication consent form.  Whenever possible, medication should be given at home before or after school.  All medication, both prescription and non-prescription, that must be taken at school requires both doctor orders and parent permission.  Medication must be brought to school by a parent or an authorized adult.  Medication must be in its original prescription bottle or sealed box.

Please ensure our nurses have a copy of your child's up-to-date immunization records and inform our nurses of any allergies/medical needs your child has before their first day with us.  Kindly, fill out the Medical Declaration Form upon registration and submit to the school nurse; this document is also available from the school clinic.

Health services are aligned and follow the guidelines set by the Ministry of Public Health and GEMS American Academy’s policies.
